Abstract

In this study, WTaMoHfNi refractory high entropy alloy was coated by hybrid laser cladding- ultrasonic field method on GTD-111 superalloy used in gas turbine blades. The results showed that the ultrasonic field, through cavitation, increases the heat input in the clad zone (CZ) and causes complete deposition of the CZ. In addition, the ultrasonic vibration effects cause the formation of equiaxed grains throughout the CZ by increasing the temperature gradient and crushing the growing dendrites. Under such conditions, in addition to removing defects, the hardness and wear resistance of the CZ increased significantly compared to the state without using the ultrasonic field.
