Abstract
AbstractFriction is an indispensable phenomenon since it appears in many natural phenomena as well as in industrial applications. Especially the so‐called stick‐slip‐effect in dynamic applications can cause undesirable effects like noise and wear. Hence, it is of great importance to investigate and understand friction in detail in order to avoid those phenomena with negative consequences. The goal of this investigation is to observe a three‐dimensional wire‐like beam clamped on one side and free on the other, that is excited at one node with a constant force. Thereby friction is induced to the system and the stick‐slip‐effect occurs. The Fast Nonlinear Analysis Algorithm is used to solve the nonlinear equation computationally. First, dry friction is simulated varying the number of sliders in the Iwan model and applying different friction distribution models. Viscous and Stribeck friction are included afterwards. The obtained results are compared with respect to the simulation time.
