Abstract

This research is to investigate frequency selective surface (FSS) structure effect on WLAN application signal. The FSS structure acts as a band pass square-loop filter to attenuate the rest signal other than 2.45 GHz and increase the signal power of WLAN signal 2.45 GHz. All the simulation part was simulated by using Computer Simulator Technology Microwave Studio software (CSTMWS). The FSS structure was measured inside the anechoic chamber by using horn antennas, and the `InSSIDer version 2.1' software was used to check the receive signal power of WLAN application signal. The Taconic TLY-5 PCB board with dielectric constant, ɛr = 2.2 was used to fabricate the FSS structure. The higher dielectric constant was led the resonant frequency shifted to lower frequency. The FSS structure effect on WIFI signal was investigated in difference environment and distance. The FSS structure was increased the 2.45 GHz signal power when pass through the FSS structure. The FSS structure can be used to solve the problem of WLAN signal power at places with low wireless coverage.
