Abstract

Antipersonnel mines continue to be a torment for all Colombians, since the year 2000 there are records of scientific and technological developments for the detection of antipersonnel mines. In the real field, metal detectors, detection dogs and probes that endanger the lives of people and animals are still used because these methods do not detect all types of antipersonnel mines that are planted in the country. However, scientific and technological innovation projects are not used in the real field, despite the efforts of scientists and engineers in the country to solve the specific difficulties for the detection of antipersonnel mines in Colombia, their projects are not easily financed. And many are not even tested in a controlled field. In this divulgation work, 4 stories of scientists who have dedicated years to research in antipersonnel mine detection are presented, data is collected from more than 30 scientific and technological innovation projects carried out in the country, mine antipersonnel victims are given a voice and the demining process in Colombia is reported.
