Abstract

Measurements were made of the total area of Mössbauer absorption for a single crystal of siderite at temperatures between 90°K and 600°K. An inversion of the anisotropy of the mean square amplitude of vibration of the iron atoms was observed at 200–300°K. Possible interpretations of the inversion are discussed.
