Abstract

An inverse procedure which is based on Direct Integration Method (DIM) is developed to estimate the nonlinear parameter and attenuation coefficient in water. In the present study, the governing equation is the Burger's equation. The Fubini's solution is utilized as the direct solution of the inverse procedure. The procedures of estimating nonlinear parameter and attenuation coefficient are discussed respectively. In addition, both planar wave model and spherical wave model are obtained. Furthermore, numerical analysis and experimental measurement are performed to verify the inverse procedure. The results indicate that the inverse procedure provides good estimation of nonlinear parameter and attenuation coefficient in water.
