Abstract
AbstractA simple version of the inverse spectral theory for finite‐gap potentials of the Hermitean Zhakarov‐Shabat operator is presented, and the kink and polaron structures in quasi‐one‐dimensional systems with a nearly half‐filled band are discussed in terms of this theory. The gap equation for one kink band in systems with a nearly 1/3‐filled band is solved for special parameters, but no general finite‐gap solution is found in this case.
