Abstract

Inverse problems in ocean acoustics and methods for solving them are discussed. Some of the unknowns for remote sensing problems are sound speed in the ocean, sediment properties, and roughness parameters. Some of the unknowns for localization problems are source location, source time series, and source path. Since the ocean is a complex acoustic waveguide, forward models are important tools for solving ocean acoustic inverse problems.
