Abstract

This paper discusses the problem of estimating parameters for the inverse Gaussian distribution when early failures dominate the problem. Since the Weibull distribution is a well-known competitor of the inverse Gaussian distribution, the estimate for the reliability function can be obtained by using the Weibull distribution. Simulation studies are performed to compare reliability by using both inverse Gaussian and Weibull distributions. Various implications of these results are discussed.
