Abstract
We present preliminary results from the adaptive input estimator developed to estimate time-dependent boundary heat flux in a one-dimensional heat conduction domain with heated and insulated walls. For the estimation, the algorithm requires only the temperatures measured at the insulated wall. The estimator is so composed of Kalman filters connected in parallel as to reconstruct the unknown input effectively. Computer simulation results reveal that the proposed adaptive input estimator has improved estimation performance even for step-changing heat flux
