Abstract

An inverse class-E power amplifier (PA) with series filter is proposed in this paper. The basic waveforms of the circuit are analyzed, design equations are derived and the element values are calculated. The characteristics such as output power capability, maximum operational frequency of the inverse class-E PA with series filter are revealed. A design example is given, and simulation is carried out to verify the proposed theoretical calculation. The simulation results of the PA agree well with the theoretical analysis, which achieves drain efficiency of 98.9%. The proposed inverse class-E PA with series filter is dual type of the class-E PA with shunt filter.
