Abstract

An inventory consolidation study in the upstream segment of Petrobras was carried out in order to optimize the (re) allocation to regional plants and distribution centers of common parts used by its production processes. Some findings led to the identification of suitable modeling approaches for stocking and control of common needs in the multi-echelon inventory system for the inbound logistics servicing its regional units. The optimal consolidation scheme is the outcome of a Set Partitioning problem. At this stage, existing algorithms are solution tools for large-scale SP problems that underpin the practice for inventory location/allocation logistics structural decisions.
