Abstract

This article presents the epistemological foundations of a genetic linguistics of writing arisen from the coexistence of two fields of research. The first one is the concern of morphogenesis and deals with the emergence of scripts in ancient societies ; the second one is a matter for ontogenesis and focuses on the acquisition of writing. Beyond a rapid presentation, we particularly want to explore the idea according to which graphic marks of the first writers just as well the ones of the beginning writers give us information on the "homo scribens" cognitive skills.
