Abstract

Cancer invasion and metastasis is considered to be a multifactorial process involving a complex interaction of a variety of proteolytic enzymes, growth factors, and cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion molecules. Several of these peptides are expressed in breast cancer tissue. In this issue of Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, we have invited a number of groups to discuss aspects of invasion and metastasis in breast cancer and their possible clinical implications for prognosis and, ultimately, treatment.
