Abstract

The dilatation group is applied to the cylindrically symmetric acoustic wave equation. Admissible classes of index of refraction functions are determined, which remain invariant under that group. Using several such functions we find exact invariant solutions of the resulting acoustic equation, and one numerical evaluation is made.
