Abstract

Intuitional practice (an advanced process of meditation) involves cosmic ideation, concentration on a glandular center and mental incantation of a mantra synchronous with breathing. The physiological responces (EEG and blood chemistry) of 3 subjects were monitored in normal state and during meditation. One of the subjects has been doing intuitional practice regularly, the second subject does classical meditation (involving breath control and concentration) and the third is a novice. During meditation, a pronounced increase was observed in the EEG output at lower frequency states, the changes were most significant for the adept subjects. In the case of the Intuitional practitioner, the decreased blood sugar and lactate indicate lowered metabolic rate.
