Abstract

Abstract Intussusception is defined as an acquired telescoping of proximal bowel into the distal bowel. It is a common cause of bowel obstruction in infancy. Majority are reported between 3 and 9 months, 90% are affected within the first 3 years of life with idiopathic cause. A high index of suspicion must be maintained for bowel obstruction in typical infant age with no demonstrable hernias or previous surgery. Abdominal ultrasound is the gold standard for the diagnosis. We present a rare case in our practice of intussusception in a 4 years old male with nephrotic syndrome at our pediatric surgery department.
