Abstract

ABSTRACT This article explores vulnerability and intuition through Stay Gold, an intergenerational arts program developed specifically for the LGBTQIA+ community and its relationship to museum education. Our bodies are subjugated by normative ideologies at birth, and certain bodies (I use the term queer for these bodies, which encompasses sexualities, gender identities, and gender expressions which fall outside of the normative) are inevitably made vulnerable as soon as there is a conscious acknowledgement of somatic, emotional, or sexual dissidence from applied hetero and cis-normative values. This article seeks to examine how queerness is connected to vulnerability and intuition and how the museum education program, Stay Gold, impacts the lives of LGBTQIA+ participants through this lens.
