Abstract

The Human Immune System has the ability to defend itself against foreign invasion by using its Barrier Immune System such as the skin to prevent pathogens from getting into the body. However, Pathogen that finds their way into the body are handled by the Innate and the Adaptive Immune System. This idea is modeled in Computer Science to solve problem of Computer Security especially Intrusion Detection. This paper aim to take an overview of how the Human Immune System works and how it is applied in Artificial Immune System for Intrusion Detection System. The strength and weakness of the major Artificial Immune System Algorithms such as the Negative Selection Algorithm, the Clonal Selection Algorithm and the Danger Theory has been highlighted. Relevant research in this field consisting of primary and secondary source have also been reviewed. The paper also proposed a hybrid Artificial Immune System to reduce false positives and false negatives associated with Anomaly Intrusion Detection System.
