Abstract

We use a systematic analysis of experimental data for 112–128Te to provide evidence for existence of intruder excitations in 116–124Te. We augment our analysis with mixed configuration IBM-2 calculations and find good agreement between these calculations and both experimental energy-level systematics and transition rates. We discuss the interaction-strength parameters between the intruder and normal configurations and the choice of effective boson charges. After allowance is made for the effects of strong intruder admixture, we show that the underlying vibrational normal excitation structures in even-even Te nuclides do not closely approach any of the dynamical symmetry limits of the IBM.
