Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate if the association of bilberry extract (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) and blend of fish oil, vitamins B6, B9 and B12 were more promnesic than extract alone or blend alone. Old mice received gastric intubation during 30 days and were submitted to T-maze test after one, fifteen, and thirty days of supplementation. Blend of fish oil, vitamins B6, B9 and B12 alone as well as bilberry extract alone don’t have any significant promnesic effect on working memory, whatever the supplementation time. By contrast, old mice supplemented with bilberry extract associated with the blend of fish oil, vitamins B6, B9 and B12 have a significant improvement of working memory compared to all old mice groups. This effect of bilberry extract is dose-dependent and/or time-dependent.
