Abstract

Game theory is a mathematical theory dealing with models of conflict and cooperation. Non-surprisingly it finds many applications in economics and in other social sciences but also in evolutionary biology. In the fundamental work of John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern (1944) “Theory of Games and Economic Behavior” three classes of games are considered: games in extensive form (or tree games), games in strategic form (or games in normal form) and games in coalitional form.
