Abstract

Abstract Effective clinical supervision of students, doctoral interns, and postdoctoral residents is an essential activity for many clinical neuropsychologists. Despite the obvious importance of supervision in neuropsychology, training in providing clinical supervision in neuropsychology has been limited. There is a growing emphasis on training in supervision as evidenced by the emergence of supervision as a separate competency area for psychologists. Despite this, very little has been published on supervision in clinical neuropsychology. This chapter provides an introduction to the need for training and education in clinical neuropsychology supervision. Previous efforts to characterize the supervision activities of clinical neuropsychologists are reviewed. A brief summary is provided for each of the subsequent chapters.
