Abstract

This introductory chapter discusses the three different types of large-scale arbitration in national and international law: class arbitration, mass arbitration, and collective arbitration. It also describes how these large-scale arbitration types came to be by looking at some examples of the past and how arbitration procedures back then continues to affect the present. It also defines the types of disputes amenable to each type of large-scale arbitration in national and international legal systems.
