Abstract

This chapter introduces the book Word Problems . The book discusses the group theory and other fields of algebra, topology, computer science, and mathematics. It focuses on algorithms and the common use of a certain kind of combinatorial analysis. This analysis had been used in logic for a long time, particularly in the study of proofs, before its application to the study of word problems in groups and semigroups. The book serves not only as a volume for an expert but also as a vehicle for entry into the field of various specialties. The book also describes the Britton proof and the Wos–Robinson proof.
