Abstract

Abstract This book is meant to provide English-speaking readers with a brief critical introduction to the history of concepts or conceptual history ( Begriffs geschichte), a genre developed since midcentury in the Federal Republic of Germany. Its theoretical goals, research programs, and actual performances differ significantly from the history of ideas, intellectual history, and the his tory of political thought as written by scholars working in English.
