Introduction| March 01 2010 Introduction: Ways of Framing Paula J. Giddings Paula J. Giddings Paula J. Giddings is the Elizabeth A. Woodson 1922 Professor of Afro-American Studies at Smith College and the editor of Meridians: Feminism, Race, Transnationalism. She is the author of four books, including When and Where I Enter: The Impact of Black Women on Race and Sex in America; In Search of Sisterhood: Delta Sigma Theta and the Challenge of the Black Sorority Movement; Burning All Illusions: Writings from the Nation on Race, 1866–2002; and her most recent work, IDA, A Sword among Lions, which won the 2008 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Biography and the Letitia Woods Brown Book Award from the Association of Black Women Historians, among other honors.
