Abstract

This collection of essays focuses on changes and developments within digital journalism in China. The various essays explore the implications of digital media technologies for journalists’ professional practice, news users’ consumption of and engagement with news, the growing significance of social media, as well as the shifting institutional, organizational, and financial structures of news media and their changing styles and content. This Introduction examines the theoretical elaboration of the idea of ‘disruption’ and its uses in exploring digital disruptions in journalism within the context of mainland China.
