In this section the following productions have been selected for close attention: Murder in the Cathedral staged in the chapter house of Canterbury Cathedral by the Cathedral Players, 15 June 1935 (Becket: Robert Speaight; Director: E. Martin Browne), subsequently transferring to the Mercury and the Duchess Theatres, London; at the Old Vic Theatre, London, by the Old Vic Company, 31 March 1953 (Becket: Robert Donat; Director: Robert Helpmann); at the Aldwych Theatre, London, by the Royal Shakespeare Company, 31 August 1972 (Becket: Richard Pasco; Director: Terry Hands).
