Abstract

Introduction JOTSA’s Fall 2017 Special Issue entitled “Armenian Ottoman History” is guest edited by Lerna Ekmekcioglu. This issue is divided into three main sections. Section one consists of seven articles and a short introduction representing an emerging field that combines Armenian and Ottoman history and represents the fruits of various workshops, round-tables, and other scholarly discussions bringing together the heretofore ideologically and source-separated fields of Armenian and Ottoman history. Section two consists of a number of book reviews on a range of topics related to Ottoman and Turkish studies. JOTSA thanks the continued service of its dedicated book review editors, Metin Atmaca, William Blair, and Murat Yaşar. Section three consists of a report by John-Paul A. Ghobrial about his workshop entitled, “Towards a New History of Christians and Jews in Ottoman Society” held at the University of Oxford in July 2017. JOTSA would like to express its appreciation to Indiana University Press and its staff for publishing and distributing the journal. JOTSA is now available online and in print. Plus all issues of the Turkish Studies Association Journal (TSAJ), the Turkish Studies Association Bulletin (TSAB), and the Turkish Studies Association Newsletter are now available on JSTOR. Additionally, we thank all the anonymous reviewers who have so willingly given of their time to peer-review this issue’s articles. We understand that this is a sacrifice of precious time and sincerely appreciate their efforts in making this a high quality journal. As the editors, we would like to welcome and thank our new JOTSA Graduate Assistant Editor, Sibel Karakoç, for her dedicated work.
