Abstract

Beginning with the latter part of the nineteenth century, many outstanding contributions have been and continue to be made, which enlarge our understanding of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal function. Largely through the efforts of several of the participants of this symposium, much has been learned regarding central and peripheral mechanisms involved in both the regulation and control of normal muscle tone, and their disruption, which results in hypertonia.
