Abstract

We live in a world of euphemisms and acronyms. Handheld communication devices have reduced us to sending messages reading LOL (laughing out loud) and BFF (best friends forever). Whatever happened to the time when we were cool because we said TGIF (thank god, it's Friday)? Is this a change in use of language? When asked for an address, does this mean your street or e-mail? Does puppy still mean young dog? And is that the four-legged kind or a two-legged one? As our forms of communication evolve, our language follows suit.
