Abstract

Seismic detectors have been around for centuries and seismic prospecting for many decades. The variety of seismic sensors in modern surveys is dazzling; they can measure particle velocity and acceleration, pressure and pressure gradient, strain and strain rate, and multiple components (Z, H1, H2, yaw, pitch, roll), from near DC to hundreds or thousands of hertz, in land, marine, borehole, and extraterrestrial environments.
