Abstract

Several of the articles in this issue are based on presentations from the 41st Annual Meeting of the Society for Computers in Psychology (SCiP). The conference was held in Seattle, Washington, on November 3, 2011, and included talks, posters, and symposia on topics as diverse as semantic processing, intelligent tutors, equipment timing, response time distributions, and brain imaging. The keynote address was given by Susan Dumais on “Understanding InSitu Search Behavior Using LargeScale Log Analysis and Web-Based Experiments.” Joe Magliano also hosted a presidential symposium, “Natural Language Processing Applications in Education: The Computer-Based Analysis of Student Constructed Responses.” A copy of the conference program can be found at www.scip.co/scip-2011/. Brent Kievit-Kylar from Indiana University received the John Castellan Student Paper award for his presentation “Word2Word: A Visualization Tool for High-Dimensional Semantic Data.” All of the SCiP articles in this special issue were treated to the same reviewing and publication standards as the other articles in Behavior Research Methods. My thanks to the authors, reviewers, and consulting editors for quickly moving the papers through the review process. The 42nd Annual Meeting of SCiP will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 15, 2012. Additional information can be found at www.scip.co/scip-2012/.
