These ~530 to ~519 Ma pipes constitute a world class ore body, with a historic head grade (since 1992) varying between ~100 and ~135 carats/100 tonnes. They presently produce about ~40% of South Africa’s diamonds and hence ~6% of the total world’s. The position of these pipes within in the Central Zone, an ~2.04 to ~2.0 Ga assembly of various Archean and Proterozoic terranes between the Kaapvaal and Zimbabwe Cratons, apparently defies one of...
