Abstract

The role of disgust in psychopathology has been the subject of considerable research scrutiny in the past several years (Olatunji & McKay, 2009). As a result of the surge of research activity, disgust appears to play a prominent role in a wide range of disorders (Olatunji & McKay, 2007). The range of investigations now underway that involve disgust is sufficient to fill two special issues of the International Journal of Cognitive Therapy. This first issue focuses primarily on the role of disgust in problems associated with phobic avoidance, which is fitting since that is where much of the research into disgust in psychopathology got its start.
