This chapter introduces the readers to the concept of ergonomics in systems and its application in the domain of fashion design. This chapter introduces the readers to the systems perspective of ergonomics and its relevance to fashion design. The different subsystems in the domain of fashion design are explained along with the connections between them. The sharp and the blunt end of the system in fashion and its pertinence in a better design is explained. Ergonomics is a systems concept wherein there are at least three components. The three components are user, product (fashion products), and the environment or the context in which the product is used. It is like a pyramid having a sharp end: apex of the pyramid and the blunt end: the base of the pyramid. At the sharp end the users buy and use the product. At the blunt end are the designers who design the products. Thus, it is necessary for designers to come to the sharp end of the system, put themselves in the feet of the users to get an insight into different ergonomic issues in design of the product.
