Abstract

About the author Ron Chew is the former Director of the Wing Luke Asian Museum and is currently the Museology Program’s Community-Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Washington. He is known for his ability to promote cultural identity, civic participation and social justice through community-based museum initiatives. The Ford Foundation awarded him the 2004 Leadership for a Changing World Award, and the American Association of Museums recognized him as one of the 100 most influential museum innovators over the past 100 years.
