Abstract
We discuss an interesting interplay of charge and spin degrees of freedom under the combination of the localized spins and the quarter-filled one-dimensional electronic system. The electronic system has on-site and intersite Coulomb interactions, U and V, respectively, which cooperate with the Kondo coupling, J, leading to a rich phase diagram with charge ordering and the ferromagnetism. The origin of the ferromagnetism is being discussed in comparison with the double exchange mechanism.
