Introduction of exon 2 mutant MED12 gene triggers activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in normal human uterine smooth muscle cells

Abstract

Specific somatic mutations in the MED12 gene exon 2 have been detected in up to 85% of uterine fibroid (UF) lesions. This study is set to determine the role of MED12 UF-specific somatic mutations in the activation of Wnt/β-catenin and its downstream β-catenin target gene expression in myometrial smooth muscle cells.
