Abstract

The lessons on world citizenship start at home and in the early school years. They start when the child begins to learn that they are not alone in this world, and they gradually becomes aware of belonging to a family, a neighbourhood, a group of children, a gender, an ethnic group, a cultural group, a socio-economic group, a community, a religion, a city, a country . . . a civilization, and to humankind.
