Abstract

Background: The Mersey region operates a hub model for radiology on-call at specialist trainee level, whereby four trainees based at two sites are responsible for providing out-of-hours imaging across six NHS trusts/eight hospitals. Demand on out-of-hours radiology services has made it difficult for the team to stay up-to-date with the workload and the cross-site working pattern has hampered overall efficiency. In addition, the lack of documentation options has left many registrars feeling poorly protected in the event of a complaint.
