Abstract

The study is aimed to impact senior high school students’ creative thinking and communication skills as the impact of the implementation of a new model called ICARE-MBI2 (ICARE-U) on renewable energy material. The study method was quasi-experimental. The topic of this study is Renewable Energy. The independent variable of this study is Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extension-Multimedia Based Integrated Instruction (ICARE-U). The independent variable is creative thinking and communication skills. The research design of this study was quasi-experimental with one group pretest-postest design. The participants of this research are twelve grade students who come from Senior High School in Bandar Lampung (13-man students which called “Mekhanai”, and 16-women called “Muli”). Instruments used in this study are the syllabus, lesson plans, learning web, student worksheets, and test items. The data was obtained from the respondents through validity, reliability, and scalogram as a product of Rasch Analysis. The results of this study present that validity score was 92.9 % and reliability was 0.971 characterized as very high. Furthermore, trough Scalogram as a product of Rasch analysis, it can be concluded that “Mekhanai” has a greater value than “Muli”. So, the learning using the ICARE-U has more impact on Mekhanai’s students’ creative thinking skills and communication on energy source materials.
