Abstract

Primary thyroid lymphoma is an uncommon tumor that in almost the majority of patients occurs in the setting of lymphocytic thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s disease. Hashimoto thyroiditis is one of the autoimmune inflammatory diseases in the thyroid gland that is characterized with elevated levels of serum thyroid auto-antibodies. A 39-year-old woman was referred with dyspenea in last two months and in initial histological examination, Hashimoto thyroiditis was reported. Due to recurrence of symptoms and airway obstruction, she underwent total thyroidectomy. During surgery, a mass which was attached to the thrachea was seen, which was completely removed. In the final pathologic study, lymphoma arising from Hashimoto thyroiditis was introduced.
