Abstract

In this issue, we launch the new Operative Neurosurgery Technical Lessons Video Series. This wonderful compendium of peer-reviewed surgical education videos was performed under the leadership of Dr Walter Jean. Our goal was to add to the library of technical peer-reviewed videos within the Operative Neurosurgery compendium. After creating a table of contents of pertinent topics, Dr Jean contacted authors with specific expertise in these areas. Gratefully, all welcomed the challenge. Of course, surgical nuances are always in evolution, and the wisdom of each experienced surgeon evolves with the broader neurosurgical science that surrounds the topic. Understanding indications for surgery, expectations, and changes in available devices and techniques makes our field so interesting and exciting. All contributions went through our robust peer-reviewed process. At the conclusion of each, Dr Jean provides a short summary interview with the senior surgeon on the topic. We plan to publish approximately 2 videos in each issue. We hope that you value and enjoy this new video series. Douglas Kondziolka, MD, MSc Editor-in-Chief, Neurosurgery Publications New York, New York, USA
