Abstract

This article describes a pedagogical model for introducing “race consciousness” into criminal justice education. After reviewing the relevant literature, I propose a model course that incorporates history, theory, policy and practice in an instructional framework designed to highlight the relevance of race in the study of justice-based issues. The article concludes with recommendations for course design and proposals for evaluating the model's effectiveness.
