Abstract
In 1985, a new course entitled ‘Fundamentals of Informatics and Computer Science’ was introduced in the curriculum of secondary schools in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Georgia and elsewhere in the Soviet Union. Since its introduction, it has become the foundation for the widescale development of informatics as a subject in the secondary schools. This article discusses preliminary results of the course, outlines problems, and analyses methods leading to solutions.
