Abstract
This paper describes the results of a study on the implementation of a generic electronic medical prescription (EMP) for the ambulatory sector in Belgium, realized by the multidisciplinary Recip-e team. The current study builds on the theoretical framework study for the EMP [12], as developed together with the E-health team of the Belgian Ministry of Health. Our analysis results in a proposal for a technical implementation in replacement of the flow, followed nowadays by the paper prescription. This technical analysis is complemented with a stakeholders analysis and feedback from all concerned parties. Moreover we describe a realistic plan allowing seamless transition from the paper-based towards the electronic prescription.
