Abstract

We report acoustic attenuation measurements in YBa 2Cu 3O 7- x using a buffer rod technique in order to obtain intrinsic data on this superconductor. An absence of attenuation change near T c and a rising attenuation with T> T 3 is observed. In a magnetic field we did not observe any change either in the superconducting or the normal state as expected for this superconductor with a high critical magnetic field and a high normal state resistivity.
