Abstract
Abstract Magnetic measurements are carried out on polycrystalline ThFe11Cx(x=1.5,1.8) samples between 4 and 900 K and a magnetic field up to 7 T. The ordering temperature, but also the magnetisation are found to be very sensitive to the carbon concentration. Both ThFe11Cx compounds are exhibiting a spin reorientation phenomenon below room temperature. The magnetocaloric effect associated with the spin reorientation of these compounds is investigated by analysis of isothermal magnetisation measurements recorded around the spin reorientation temperatures.
